Business Development Manager

GroundUP Labs is looking for an energetic, well-organized, and detail-oriented Business Development Manager to help identify, pursue and win strategic new business.  This is a great opportunity to be an early member and work alongside our founders.  We are looking for ownership-oriented team members with excellent communication skills and technical curiosity.

This position will assist us in driving more efficient and effective decision making to help GroundUP Labs reach its aggressive long term goals.  This is a great opportunity for candidates looking to gain experience in a fast-paced startup environment.

We are a close-knit collective of founders, investors and developers.  We advise, invest in and build revolutionary software products and companies.  Ultimately, we are looking for someone who inspires those around them and is accountable.  Please read below, and if this sounds like we are describing you then we would love to chat.


  • Assist with various business development initiatives including pitches, proposals, RFP responses, case studies, etc.

  • Effectively balance the needs of the team, the client and the business with agility

  • Work with executive leadership to run the pitch process from start to finish, navigating leads from initial conversation through the contract phase

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on pitch deliverables

  • Help the develop strategic deliverables including written and creative assignments that represent the client’s needs

  • Maintain ongoing communications with prospective clients & track new business pipeline leads in our CRM tool

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Is comfortable working closely with executive leadership on both the agency and client side

  • Has experience with digital products, e-commerce, social media, and campaigns

  • Is a phenomenal collaborator and facilitator of collaboration

  • Knows when to lead, when to collaborate, when to listen

  • Can identify opportunities and potential problems, addressing them effectively and efficiently


  • 3+ years of experience

  • Experience in a digital agency environment, ideally in business development, client services, or strategy

  • Experience creating written business development proposals

  • Ability (and excitement) to speak with a diverse range of prospective clients - varying in size, industry, and business model

  • Comfortable leading a pitch to develop compelling creative and strategic deliverables that meet clients’ business objectives

  • Powerful presentation and interpersonal skills

  • Ambitious, proactive and solution-obsessed

  • Phenomenal decision making and problem solving skills
