Creative Director

GroundUP Labs is a close-knit collective of founders, investors and developers.  We advise, invest in and build revolutionary software products and companies.  We are looking for a talented Creative Director to help establish and maintain a distinct brand image across all platforms and touch-points, while overseeing and helping to advise our portfolio companies' creative initiatives.  Ultimately, we are looking for someone who inspires those around them and is accountable for developing and directing creative work of the highest caliber.

Responsibilities:

  • Work in partnership with founders to set the creative direction and vision for each company

  • Manage the creative process from concept to completion

  • Translate brand vision into clear creative strategies

  • Ensure cohesive brand experience is upheld across all touchpoints; online and offline

  • Manage, mentor, and motivate other team members

  • Review work, troubleshoot and provide feedback to creative team members

  • Establish brand guidelines and develop scalable templates to help create consistency across editorial, sales, and social

  • May solicit, evaluate, hire and manage third-party resources, i.e., agencies; production companies; directors and producers; designers, etc., engaged for concept development and production.

  • Work with team to ideate new and innovative digital concepts for editorial and sales

  • Develops and tracks budgets for assigned projects (as required) .

Qualifications:

  • Strong creative aesthetic paired with an understanding of and ability to shape the mbg brand vision and the corresponding market positioning and strategies

  • 4+ years of brand creative experience

  • An understanding of how to balance the importance of creating engaging content that people love, with an understanding of working efficiently from a headcount and creative standpoint

  • Passion and experience creating engaging digital content with proven results

  • Art direction background with expertise in “concepting” and directing shoots for multiple platform applications

  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, start-up style environment, think quickly, strategically and creatively to meet short deadlines

  • Hands on approach – no task too small, no deadline too tight, no client or editorial ask too tough

  • Must be able to manage feedback from multiple parties and deal with curve balls

  • Experience performing or managing a range of creative positions, such as graphic designer, art director, and copywriter is preferred. Video experience a plus!

  • A true digital citizen – fluent in latest trends, technologies and platforms
